Sparkle

As we have been journeying through the Psalms, the Holy Spirit will highlight a verse to me. I remember the value of a highlighter in college! I marked every single important statement made in my notes or in my book with a highlighter so it would stand out as I skimmed back through in studying. Highlighters are bright, neon, and easily noticed by the way they stand out! And, they make what they highlight stand out!

When the Holy Spirit highlights a Scripture to me, it will stand out so vividly that I just keep going back to it over and over! Have you ever had something like that happen to you? It’s as if the Lord is saying, “Pause right here with Me and let’s dig a little deeper.”

Psalm 34:5 was one of the verses the Lord highlighted for me:

Those who look to Him are radiant.”

Those who LOOK. “Look” is “nabat” and means “to pay attention to; to look intently; to consider.” Those who pay attention to and consider God are radiant. “Radiant” is “nahar” and means “to sparkle; to shine; to beam; the sheen from a running stream”.

Jesus said in John 8:12, “I am the Light of the world.” Then, He turned around in Matthew 5:15, and said to His followers, “You are the Light of the world.” Wow. The very thing He called Himself is the very thing He calls us!!! How humbling.

The very thing He called Himself is the very thing He calls us!!!

So, what is the ROOT of this light? Jesus. All light comes from Him. John 1:4 says “In him was life, and that life was the LIGHT of all mankind.

What is REQUIRED for this light to shine? Well, let’s go back to the verse the Lord highlighted for me: “Those who look to Him are radiant.”

The one requirement is to pay attention to God: what He is doing and saying to us. It is then that the Holy Spirit will become like a flowing stream, constantly moving in and through us! Isn’t that what Jesus said in John 7:38? “Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said: ‘Streams of living water will flow from within him.’ ” So as we keep our eyes and hearts on Jesus, the sheen from the running stream of His Spirit will sparkle all over our lives.

As we keep our eyes and hearts on Jesus, the sheen from the running stream of His Spirit will sparkle all over our lives.

And you know what RESULTS inside of you?

Psalm 36:9 tells us: “…in Your light we see light.” The first word “Light” means “the light of His face”; the second word “Light” means “the light of instruction”. Do you see it? In the Light of God’s presence, we will see the Light of His revelation and instruction.

In the Light of God’s presence, we will see the Light of His revelation and instruction.

You, my friend, were made to sparkle! He wants to highlight your life like the neon highlighter you’ve used in the past! He is the highlighter, and everything He highlights stands out!!! This is who you were created to be!

So keep the eyes of your heart on Jesus. Talk to Him all throughout your day: “What are You doing today, Jesus? What do You say about that, Jesus? What would You do in this situation, Jesus?” And as you do so, watch the streams of living water flow from within you out to those around you! You will receive more and more instructions from the Lord and see Him move in powerful ways!

Lemme see you SPARKLE!!!

I remember a little song I taught in children's choir -- "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine. This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine. Let it shine! Let it shine! Let it shine. Let it shine 'till Jesus comes. I'm gonna let it shine. Let it shine 'til Jesus comes! I'm gonna let it shine. Let it shine! Let it shine! Let it shine!!!
