Power-Packed Words

Many of you may have read the book or seen the movie called The Help, written by Kathryn Stockett. One of the most impactful scenes in the movie is when the help, , says to the little girl who is being emotionally abandoned by her suburban mother, "You is smart. You is kind. You is important." Teared all up! Gets me every time. Why is that?

Because I believe that deep within the heart of every person is the desire to be seen as significant, and worthy of love.

Deep within the heart of every person is the desire to be seen as significant, and worthy of love.

I wonder what would happen if we started saying what is true about us every day? How would it affect the way we live? Our attitude? Our outlook on life?

Things like:

I am accepted (Romans 15:7)

I have what it takes (Phil. 4:13)

I am chosen (Ps. 139)

I have everything I need (Phil.4:19)

I am dead to sin (Romans 6:11)

I have God's power (Acts 1:8)

I have an important purpose (Jeremiah 29:11)

I am deeply loved (Romans 8:38-39)

You know what else I wonder? I wonder what might happen if we started speaking these truths to our husbands, our children, our co-workers, our friends, and our faith family? How would it affect them?

Think of the power your words have. "Life and death are in the power of the tongue and those who love it will eat its fruit." Proverbs 18:21 Based on that verse right there, our words are power-packed! We have the power to make or break someone's day just with our words!

So let's challenge one another to speak truth, based on the Word of God, to those around us at every chance we get and watch how our words set the tone for the rest of their day....maybe even their life!

You are loved,

Jena
