The King is coming and we must be a Bride who makes herself ready! Well, what does that look like? I mean, how are we supposed to be making ourselves ready? I believe it can be boiled down to one word: holiness. Holiness is not "holier than thou". It is not an attitude. Holiness is a passionate pursuit.
Holiness is to be wholly God's in every way. After all, He gave His life so we could have our's. The least we could do would be to give ourselves to Him, to live for Him. To try to be holy in your own limited and fleshly strength is to be altogether unholy. Holiness is the quality of heaven. God is holy and therefore Heaven is holy. In order for us to live there forever, we as the Bride of Christ must become wholly and completely His. Ephesians 5:27 says, "and to present her to Himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy, and blameless."
Holiness is the only path to happiness.
The Church and we, as individuals, are to be holy, set apart by God and for God's purposes.
God calls us holy but wants us to be holy as well. Hebrews 10:14 says, "For by one sacrifice He has made holy forever those who are being made holy." Jesus declared holiness for us on the cross as our identity, but we must live a life of holiness on earth as our reality.
When Jorja was little, she came up to me and asked me for $20. When I asked her why she needed $20, she said, "Because I want to buy you a present." She was getting money from me to buy me a present! This is what Jesus did. He gave His life to declare you holy in position, and then gave you His Spirit , His Word, and more to help you become holy in your practice.
Your Present to God is to be a Holy Bride.
Holiness begins in LOVE because the more you understand and receive God's love for you, the more you will desire to please Him with every part of your life, and be the Bride that He desires you to be. Holiness is motivated by GRATITUDE as you are just so indebted to what Jesus did for you. (Romans 12:1) Holiness is grown by the HOLY SPIRIT as He has been deposited in you to help you become holy.
What Bride doesn't want to be everything her Groom desires her to be on their wedding day? You want to know what God considers marriage material? Jesus, our Groom, desires a holy Bride.
