My husband has told so many stories about his experiences with his junior high school coach. He was a short man with short arms. Because of this, he would swing his arms around to smack you if you were not executing to his standards!
Dale tells the story that one time, he swung his arms to take out a young player, but the young player ducked, and he swung all the way around and took out his own daughter! Makes me giggle even now to think about it!
Isaiah 50:2 says, “…is My hand so short that it cannot redeem?”
The hand of God, the touch of Jesus, the reach of Holy Spirit is NEVER too short to rescue and redeem.
The hand of God, the touch of Jesus, the reach of Holy Spirit is NEVER too short to rescue and redeem.
This word “redeem” is so special! The original is the word “ransom”. Maybe you have heard that word as only when someone is held for ransom. It means that they will not release that person without paying a price for them.
This is the gospel! Jesus paid our ransom! God did not walk away from us! We were separated from God because of our own sin. Yet, He sent His Son, Jesus to pay the ransom (eternal separation from Him) for us.
The hand of God is never too short to ransom and redeem any person. Don’t let anyone ever say that a certain person is “too far gone”. Jesus begs to differ. His long, loving, blood soaked arms are always within the reach of the person who turns to Him.
His wounds paid our ransom. Thank you, Jesus.
