Embrace the Shake

I try to check in with many of my sisters in the sisterhood fairly regularly just to see where they are, what the Lord is doing, and how I can pray for them. When I hear a pattern, I know that the Lord is revealing to me an area of need for encouragement.

Right now, many women are having the proverbial rug pulled out from under them. The places where they felt most secure and put their confidence in, is being stripped. From relationships, to jobs, to family sickness, to possible moving of the family, things that might be considered a sure foundation is suddenly being shaken. And often when those things start shaking, we also do, emotionally.

So what do we do? How do we respond?

I want to suggest a Scripture to consider.

Hebrews 12:27 says this:

“When God says, “Once more,” He means He will take away everything of this world that can be shaken so the things that cannot be shaken will be left.”

When our world gets “shaken”, perhaps that Lord is using those circumstances for us to see that He is the only One who can’t be shaken. Maybe we begin to recognize that we have put a large amount of trust in people and things that might not always be. Maybe we have things WAY out of proportion, relying way too much on those people and things than on God.

He is our sure foundation. He is immovable. He is eternal. He is the God who never leaves us nor forsakes us. He has proven that He is totally trustworthy. He is our security. He is with us and He is not going anywhere. He is faithful to us, because He made a covenant with us and He takes covenants seriously.

Matthew 7:24-27 says,

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

God. His Word. Obedience to His Word. By FAITH (I am going to believe Your Word and obey it, no matter how I feel because I trust You for the results.) That’s the real authentic security we have.

So may I encourage you to as I have said so often “embrace the shake”. Use the shake to evaluate where your security comes from and where too much emphasis and reliance has been on a person or thing other than Jesus. May today be a day where our perspective changes and our faith rises in our Abba Daddy who never changes and never leaves us. Let Him shake away what we have had our faith in, so that we can put ALL our faith in Him.

You are so loved,

Jena
