Maybe when you hear that word, your first thoughts are people who think they are better than you, and try to make you feel “small” in comparison to them. Well, that’s their own insecurities bubbling up, so know who and Whose you are and walk with your eyes fixed on your Kingdom purpose, and don’t give comparison or competition another thought. It’s not accepted in the Kingdom, so you can’t permit it here in your life on earth.
Or maybe you think of Lake Superior! It’s a beautiful place!
In Hebrews 1:4 it says that Jesus was given a name superior to all other names. Specifically, His name is superior to the angels. We are reminded in verse 14 that angels are ministering spirits sent to serve those who inherit salvation. That’s me and you.
Why is Jesus’ name superior?
At the name of Jesus, demons flee, satan trembles, cancer bows the knee, Covid ends, fear leaves, striving ceases, addictions broken, depression gone, insecurities nullified, darkness illuminated, chaos put into order, overwhelmed find rest and peace, weary get strength, ashes turn to beauty, hopeless become hopeful, and broken hearts are mended!
God gave Jesus the name above ALL names (Philippians 2:9)….far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that can be given, not only now but in the age to come (Ephesians 1:21)!!!
JESUS
No power of hell can hold him down, because He has all power!
No water can drown Him,
because He walks in it!
No wind can blow Him away,
because He tells it when to blow!
THIS IS JESUS!
He inherited a name. You are an heir by His grace. We get to be His ”companions” (vrs 9). We have the opportunity to partner with Christ Jesus, but your obedience and partnership with Jesus will determine the benefits of your Kingdom inheritance, that you get to experience. You can’t lose your salvation, but you can miss fulfilling your purpose, because you refuse partnership with Jesus.
Jesus, though superior in every way, came not to be served but to serve and give His life as a ransom for many.
So today, may we live as Jesus lived….servants in partnership with the Superior! Servants, who could walk around like we are all that (because in Jesus, we are!!!!) but choose to take the form of a servant, giving our lives for others.
And, may we learn to APPLY the name of Jesus to EVERYTHING we face, because His name is above it ALL!!!

May we humble ourselves and fully grasp that to have a servant’s heart is NOT a sign of weakness but instead shows great faith, character and strength. God is so good in His patience with us.
HE is superior over all and only HIM!
