Coming Upon You

Last night, as I was preparing to go to prison for a little Christmas gathering, I sat down to read the Christmas story from Matthew 1&2.

This struck me: "she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit." Matthew 1:18

The Holy Spirit. It's the first time "Holy Spirit" is used in the Bible. The Holy Spirit came upon Mary and she became impregnated.

There is a difference between the Holy Spirit in you and the Holy Spirit coming upon you. You can have the Holy Spirit inside of you but never ever come upon you. To come upon you means to overcome you. To overtake you. To fall upon you. You are lost, dead, and the Holy Spirit takes over fully.

The Holy Spirit came upon Mary, and she revealed Jesus to the world. The Holy Spirit comes upon the Word of God and it reveals Jesus to the world. Which means that when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you reveal Jesus to the world.

When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you reveal Jesus to the world.

Acts 1:8 says, "You will receive power, when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses."

So many people speak of COVID and the flu as something that just hit them out of nowhere. It just suddenly "came upon" them.

Power comes when the Holy Spirit is given permission to come upon you. You must choose to deny yourself, crucify what you want, and yield yourself to whatever God wants to do in and through you.

God wants to know that when His Spirit comes upon you that you are able to be trusted with Him. That looks like a life sacrificed. It looks like a life seeking to live holy. It looks like one who walks in such yeildedness and humility that no credit is desired but ALL for God's Glory alone.

Do you want to live a more power-filled life? Be holy as He is holy. Yield yourself completely to God, and walk in humility. Invite the Holy Spirit to come upon you and use you for His glory.

You are loved,
