It is always exciting to me to study and hear from the Lord about our next year and what He has in store! I’m like a kid on Christmas morning, waiting to open a gift! So, today, let’s open this beautiful gift of a new year with Jesus and let’s see what we can find.
2018 on the Hebrew calendar is 5778.
The number 5 is the number for “grace; particularly the grace given us in the Holy Spirit“. The word for the number 5 is “ha” and names were changed in the Bible adding the “ha” for their name. How neat to think that when we asked Jesus to be Savior and Lord of our lives, we received the “ha“, the Holy Spirit, to empower us to do what He has created in us to do! (Eph 2:10)
The number 7 is the number that means “completion or maturity“. The word for the number 7 is “zayin” and is actually means “a sword that was used in their fighting for food”. I find it interesting that Jesus is the Bread of Life, and that the Word of God is life and nourishment to us. Therefore, we come into a double (two 7’s) portion of maturity when we dive deeper into and fight for time in the Word! Good stuff, right?!!!!
The number 8 is the number for “newness: specifically new beginnings“! Think about this: 8 people stepped off the ark in Genesis 8! They we’re experiencing a new beginning! And many still consider Monday the 8th day as the beginning of infinite time and that’s why the number 8 is the infinity symbol sideways!
Here’s the cool part: the number 8 is comprised of the number 7 and the number 6 attached together, looking like a doorway. The number 6 means “man” and we already know that 7 is maturity through the Word. So, when man gets yoked in with the Holy Spirit inspired and revealed Word, we will experience doorways to new beginnings!
When man gets yoked in with the Holy Spirit inspired and revealed Word,
we will experience doorways to new beginnings!
Now if that doesn’t fire you up about 2018, I don’t know what will!!!!
When I read this word “new beginnings“, I started singing the song “Micheal Finnegan” in my head: “There once was a man named, Micheal Finnegan, he had 5 whiskers on his chin again, they grew out and they grew in again, (or the wind blew them off and blew them on again), poor ole Micheal Finnagin begin again.” Anybody remember singing this on the bus over and over???? I thought to myself, “Why in the world am I hearing this song?” Then, the Spirit reminded me, NEW BEGINNINGS are not necessarily brand new; they may be something that is BEGINNING AGAIN!
I woke up the next morning to two words, “perfect work”. Immediately, the only verse that came to mind was James 1:2-4: “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” The Spirit revealed to me that God begins a work in our lives and His desire is to complete that work. Philippians 1:6 says, “being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus“. However, oftentimes, WE don’t let Him complete what He wanted to do, because we either tried to fix it ourselves or we got some temporary relief to what we were struggling with.
Maybe God wants to “begin again” some deep work that He started in you until completion.
What is something in your life that God began in you and it never got completed? What door have you shut in your life that God is opening the door again for you to walk through? Where does He want to “begin again” and this time, complete?
Let’s seek Him for all the New Beginnings He has in store for us, both new and old!!!! 2018, here we come!!!!
