Christmas….I LOVE IT! It IS the most wonderful time of the year! I love everything about it! Family, Food, and Gift-giving make my heart happy!!! It’s a celebration of the birth of my Savior! How can I NOT be excited about that!!!
The Joy of Christmas is Jesus Come to Earth for You and Me!
Over the years, I had heard about something called Advent, but I’ve got to be honest and tell you that it wasn’t until a few years ago that I even thought about participating in Advent and knowing its significance. Today, I must say that celebrating Advent has kept me focused on Jesus in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Experiencing Advent with my family has become a beautiful tradition for us. It has taught me to focus on what Jesus’ coming means for me now, as well as, when He comes again…and oh what a day that will be!!! Out of this new discovery, the Lord helped me write a devotional for families for the Advent season.
Thank you so much for subscribing to the blog, going through the Deeper Series, and taking others with you. No words can describe my gratitude for you choosing to be a part of Living Deeper Ministries and joining me in walking with God and taking others with you! As a way of saying “thank you“, I will be sending you my Advent Devotional for FREE, as my way of encouraging you to engage God and your family in deeper ways through the month of December . There is even a special activity for you to do with your FAMILY each day, complete with a materials list in the back.
I am so thrilled for you who will be joining me for the Advent Devotional, The Joys of Waiting! For many of us, just the title alone brings a little angst! Most of us can find no joy in waiting. And yet, the word Advent comes from the Latin word Adventus and means “an event that is to come”. An event that is to come requires waiting. And oftentimes, it is the waiting that seems so excruciatingly and painfully long.
What If In The Waiting We Find God In Deeper Ways?
Advent is most recently celebrated the first 24 days in December as a time of preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus, as well as an anticipation of Christ’s return. The importance of this season is that it is intended to bring us hope as we look forward to and wait for something greater than what we currently possess. And yet, so many of us have waited for so long that we have lost all hope.
It is my prayer that as you engage God through this devotional, you will experience a newfound hope that evokes joy in the midst of waiting, ultimately with joyous expectation of the return of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Advent is intended to bring us hope as we look forward to
and wait for something greater than what we currently possess.
“Father God, come and meet with Your children. Emmanuel, make us keenly aware of Your presence with us as we journey through this season with You. Speak to us from the deep places in Your heart to the deep places in ours. Give Your people renewed hope and a willingness to find joy in the waiting as we anticipate Your salvation both now and in the days to come. Make each and every woman encounter You in a way that will never be forgotten and be forever etched in their minds until You return to get us, Your Bride. In the beautiful, spotless, and perfect name of Jesus, amen.”
May you find fullness of joy in the waiting,
