Your WORD is important!

how it plays a part in this season of time

At our home, if you want to know if someone is telling you the truth, we would ask, “Jesus knows?” and if they said, “Jesus knows.” we knew they were not lying to us! There’s something about giving your word! To give our word means that it is truth to you, you mean what you are saying, and you will make it a priority in your life!

So many of you have given me your WORD for the year that the Lord has placed on your heart and life. Many of you posted them on my blog! (Read about getting your WORD for the year HERE!) Many of you also ordered you a WORD of the Year necklace from my friend, Lucy! (To order your necklace, click HERE!) Others of you have texted me or called me or private messaged me with your WORD! It’s just amazing to see what the Lord has asked you to focus on for this next year!

A few of you have asked my WORD for the year, and the WORD the Lord gave me was SCATTER.

Years ago when God called Dale and I into ministry, we had a sweet couple call us and come to our home. They asked us to go in our kitchen and wait until they came and got us. After a few minutes, they walked us into our den where they had lit candles and spread a big blanket on the floor. They asked us to sit on the floor with them. They read the Parable of the Sower from Matthew 13 to us while placing seeds into our hands. Then they prayed for us and said, “Go scatter seeds.” I’ll never forget that moment. It was special. Someone took the time out of their busy schedule to bless our ministry. Precious to us. Encouraging to our hearts. We felt so supported. That we were believed in because they saw an anointing on us.

God brought all of that before me and said “SCATTER”. Sometimes I want to see the fruit. Sometimes I want to know if what I am doing is really impacting someone else. Sometimes, I just need a boost of affirmation. But my role is to scatter seeds of God’s Word in people’s lives. The fruit is God’s job.

As Paul said in 1 Corinthians 3:6-9, “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service.”

It is God who makes things grow. Our only part to play is to plant and water as the Spirit leads. I don’t have to worry myself with making sure that others grow. God will take care of that. My focus needs to be to know the Father more intimately through His Word and time with Him, and then SCATTERING that seed of Truth on every soul He brings across my path.

This is 2017. It is 5777 on the Hebrew calendar. The number 5 is symbolic of the grace of the Holy Spirit’s power on our lives. The number 7 is symbolic of the maturity that comes through the study of the Word. There are three 7’s and the number 3 represent completion. Could it be that God is saying that as we make this a year about knowing Him through His Word and then walking in obedience to His Word by allowing the Spirit to empower us to live it out, we will have a year of great maturity? I think so! So, think about your Word for the year…..how does it align with this?

WHAT IF YOUR WORD IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF GOD’S PLAN FOR THE YEAR?

WOW. How humbling is that? For me, God is calling me to SCATTER His Truth, His Word. What a thought that my scattering could play a small part in what He wants to do in this next year of maturing His people? That’s pretty exciting! SO, how about you?

God gave you a WORD…now give Him your WORD….that you will use it to partner with His plans for 2017! “Jesus knows” it’s gonna be so good!!!
