Oftentimes, when it comes to people talking or writing about generosity, we automatically think it means spending money; money that we don’t have to spend; and therefore, we disregard being generous. But in truth, sometimes the most generous thing we can do has absolutely nothing to do with money.
My daughter moved away from home not too long ago, and was a little homesick. The only weekend she could come home, Dale and I were out of town speaking at an event. Jorja chose to come home anyway and spend time with both of her grandparents. When we arrived home, we saw this post (with the picture posted above) on Facebook from our daughter:
“When looking at this picture you might just see Apple pies ready to be baked, but I see my sweet grandma teaching me how to make these Apple pies, cheering on an Alabama football game, and a beautiful fall night. You see, these aren’t just Apple pies, this isn’t just an Alabama football game, and this isn’t just a beautiful fall night. These are unforgettable, unbreakable memories of sweet times I will hold in my heart always and forever.”
TIME IS FREE BUT IT IS ALSO PRICELESS
Women, you have no idea how valuable your time is to another. You are making memories that will last long after you are gone. So, don’t miss them. Don’t let yourself get so busy that you miss the present moments you can generously give to those you love the most. While you might think they want your money, what they really want is your time.
“So teach us to consider our mortality, so that we might live wisely.” Psalm 90:12
